While Singapore is known for its bustling skyline, it’s secretly a world-class playground for families. Though smaller than neighboring Malaysia, the sheer number of family-friendly attractions in Singapore is staggering. Based on our recent adventures, I’ve curated a list of the top 10 things to do in Singapore with kids that deserve a spot on your travel itinerary.

1. Merlion Park

If you haven’t taken a photo with the Merlion, have you even been to Singapore? As one of the most popular free things to do in Singapore with kids, Merlion Park sits right in the heart of the Marina Bay district. The mythical statue is half lion + half fish. It is a huge hit with toddlers, who are often fascinated by the water sprouting into the bay.

Best Time to Visit

To beat the heat and the massive crowds, arrive before 7:30 AM. You’ll catch a breathtaking sunrise over the water, and your kids will have plenty of space to run around before the tour groups arrive.

Getting There

If you’re using a stroller, take the MRT to Raffles Place (Exit H). The walk to the park is flat, scenic, and completely stroller-friendly.

2. Marina Bay Sands

No Singapore family itinerary is complete without a trip to the top of the world-famous Marina Bay Sands. This architectural marvel isn’t just a luxury hotel; it’s a massive lifestyle hub featuring a high-end mall and the incredible Marina Bay Sands Sky Park observatory deck.

Best Time to Visit

For that iconic “sparkling city” look, aim for post 7:00 PM to catch the sunset and the nightly light show from above.

The Reality of Traveling with a Toddler

While evening is “prime time,” I actually visited in the afternoon. Why? Because when you’re traveling with a baby, your entire schedule revolves around nap times and sleep windows! 😉 Even in the daylight, the views are absolutely stunning and much less crowded.

Family tip

The observation deck is completely stroller-accessible. There are elevators specifically for the SkyPark, making it a stress-free experience for parents with young children.

3. Singapore Flyer

Out of all the iconic landmarks we visited, the Singapore Flyer was easily my personal favorite. It’s not just a giant observation wheel; it’s a full-sensory journey through the heart of the city.

Before you even board the wheel, you walk through the Time Capsule, an immersive, multisensory attraction that explains the history of Singapore. It’s incredibly inspiring and a great way to introduce kids to the story of the “Little Red Dot” without a boring history lesson!

The Experience

The actual ride lasts about 30 minutes. The capsules are spacious, air-conditioned, and most importantly for the relief of parents, it is completely stroller-friendly. You can wheel your stroller right in, giving your little one a safe spot to sit while you soak in the 360-degree views.

The Magic Hour

While the views are great all day, the best time to visit the Singapore Flyer is post 7:00 PM. That’s exactly what I did, and it was nothing short of magical.

4. Gardens by the Bay

If there is one absolute “must-do” in Singapore, it’s Gardens by the Bay. This isn’t just a garden; it’s a 101-hectare horticultural masterpiece right in the heart of the city. For families, it’s a dream: wide open spaces, incredible visuals, and plenty of “wow” moments for the kids.

The park is famous for its iconic Supertrees, but the real magic lies within the two massive cooled conservatories: the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest.

Budget Tip

Exploring the outdoor gardens and walking under the Supertrees is completely free! However, if you want to experience the indoor “misty mountain” of the Cloud Forest or the seasonal blooms in the Flower Dome, you’ll need to purchase tickets (available separately or as a combo).

The Daytime Experience

We spent the afternoon wandering through the domes. The Cloud Forest, with its massive indoor waterfall, is a huge hit with toddlers, the mist is cooling, and the “Avatar-like” scenery is breathtaking.

The Nighttime Spectacle

After exploring during the day, don’t just head back to your hotel! You’ll definitely want to stay (or return) for the Garden Rhapsody. This spectacular light and sound show happens post 7:00 PM at the Supertree Grove. Watching the giant trees “dance” to music is an experience that will leave both you and your kids spellbound.

5. Singapore Zoo, Birds Paradise and River Wonders

A family trip to Singapore is practically incomplete without a visit to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. This massive eco-destination is home to some of the best zoological parks in the world. Depending on your child’s interests (and your energy levels!), you have three incredible options to choose from.

Here is a realistic breakdown of how much time you should budget for each, especially when traveling with kids:

The Singapore Zoo (The Classic)

Plan to keep at least 5–6 hours aside. It’s widely regarded as one of the best rainforest zoos in the world. Between the tram rides, the “Splash Safari” show, and the KidzWorld play area, the time flies!

River Wonders (Home of the Pandas)

This park takes about 2–3 hours. It’s mostly sheltered and cooler than the zoo, making it a perfect mid-afternoon activity. Don’t miss the Amazon River Quest and the giant pandas, Kai Kai and Jia Jia!

Bird Paradise (The Newest Addition)

This stunning park also requires about 2–3 hours. With massive walk-in aviaries and vibrant bird shows, it’s a sensory delight for toddlers and older kids alike.

Pro Parent Tip

If you’re feeling ambitious, you can do a “Park Hopper” combo. However, for those traveling with toddlers, I recommend picking one major park per day to avoid “meltdown territory” and truly enjoy the experience!

6. Little India

Being from India, the moment I stepped into Little India, I felt an instant, heartwarming connection. It wasn’t just a place; it was a feeling that transported me straight back home. Between the familiar sounds of Tamil, the intricate architecture of the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, and the unmistakable aroma of jasmine and spices, it’s a sensory explosion in the best way possible.

If you are looking for the best Indian shopping in Singapore, or just want a taste of home, this colorful district is where you need to be.

Shopping at Mustafa Centre

No trip to Little India is complete without visiting the legendary Mustafa Centre. It’s a 24-hour treasure trove where you can find everything from electronics to Indian groceries and gold jewelry.

  • Parent’s Tip: It can get very crowded! If you’re visiting with a stroller, try to go on a weekday morning to navigate the aisles more easily.

Authentic Eateries

From the famous Komala Vilas (a century-old icon) to the bustling Tekka Centre, the food here is as authentic as it gets. For families, Banana Leaf Apolo is a great sit-down option where kids can experience traditional dining in a comfortable setting.

Cultural Gems

Take a slow walk through the Little India Arcade to see henna artists at work or pick up colorful bangles and souvenirs. It’s one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore due to the vibrant wall murals and painted shop-houses.

7. China Town

Looking for a cultural escape while visiting Singapore with children? The narrow roads and vibrant atmosphere of Chinatown Singapore are just 4 km from Little India and offer a totally different vibe. From the historic Buddha Tooth Relic Temple to the bustling stalls selling traditional décor and snacks, it’s a feast for the eyes and the palate. It is easily one of the most Instagrammable and educational Chinatown attractions for families.

8. Universal Studios

If you’re planning a day trip to Sentosa with family, Universal Studios Singapore should be at the top of your itinerary. Your visit to Singapore doesn’t complete before you visit the island built for fun and tourism – Sentosa. If you are in Sentosa you would have seen people posting pictures standing in front of the Universal Studios globe but there is more to it. Universal Studios in Singapore is an American theme park which has shows and games for adults and kids.

Parent tip: If you are travelling with babies or toddlers to Sentosa island, then it is ideal to skip entering the actual Universal Studios theme park unless you take an express entry pass, as it is not easy to wait in long queues, have fun and take care of your little one.

9. Clarke Quay

It is famous for its bars, club and riverside restaurants. This is where you will find Singapore’s party animals and this place is always bustling with locals and tourists.

10. Changi Rain Vortex

Changi Rain Vortex is an indoor waterfall at Terminal 2 of the Changi airport. It will cast a spell on you during the days and nights. You will not want to miss this attraction as it is within the airport. I’d suggest you to check in your bags and come to the rain vortex at Terminal 2 and spend some quality time.
